United Nations Committee on Digital Communication and Social Media

Since the late 1990s, social media has changed the way people connect and share information. Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have helped people stay in touch, spread news quickly, and even support important causes. However, social media also comes with big challenges, like protecting user privacy, stopping the spread of false information, and handling harmful content. As these platforms become more powerful, it’s important to find the right balance between free speech, platform responsibility, and government rules. The UN Committee on Digital Communication and Social Media (UNCDCSM) works to make sure the online world is safe, fair, and transparent for everyone.
